Plan & pursue your battle strategy
James 1:22
You have read, studied, and hopefully discussed a lot of truth in this study. But this will not help you if you do not put these things into practice. The Bible warns:
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (James 1:22)
Plan & pursue your battle strategy.
In chapters 10-13 of this study, you were given 10 steps to defend and fight against the war being waged against you by demon-possessed destroyers of your wife and life. In this Appendix you will record your progress with each one of these steps. This checklist should be regularly discussed and reviewed with your “battle brother.”
10 Steps Checklist
🞎 I am experiencing God’s grace and forgiveness in my battle against lust. While I am sorry and sad about my sin, I believe in my Father’s compassion for me.
🞎 I have a friend who is willing to be my “battle brother” to encourage me in my battle against lust. We have agreed to call one another when we are being tempted in a “danger zone” or with an emotional “trigger” so we can remind one another of Scripture and pray together.
🞎 I have effectively installed protective software on all the Internet devices in my life and have made my “battle brother” the recipient of Internet activity reports.
🞎 I have considered and recorded below the 3 costs of sinful lust that scare me the most:
1)
2)
3)
🞎 I have identified and planned for my “danger zones”

I have also recorded how I can reduce or eliminate some of these by reducing stress, better sleep, exercise, etc. I have committed to doing these things.

🞎 I have identified my spiritual gift(s) and am pursuing a plan to use them more consistently in my home and church. And to find ways to experience pleasure without sin.
My spiritual gift(s) are:
My plan to use them:
In addition to using my spiritual gift(s), I plan to regularly experience pleasure without sin in the following ways:
1)
2)
3)
🞎 I am pursuing spiritual freedom through P.O.W.E.R. counseling.
🞎 I am pursuing reconciliation with my wife if necessary.
1) Talk to your Pastor.
2) Tell your wife everything.
3) Allow your wife a meeting to express her feelings about your sin.
4) Set up weekly couples counseling with your Pastor.
5) Determine if your wife needs a “battle sister” to support her through this difficult time.
6) Ask your wife to read this study, Your War with Lust.”
7) Provide the reports that your wife desires.
8) An example of love is to agree with your wife on an extended period of abstinence from your sexual relationship.
9) Do everything you can to demonstrate love to your wife. You might consider reading and applying such books as The Five Love Languages and The Love Dare.
10) Recommit your marriage vows to one another.
