Comparing Christ
When the Apostle Paul thought about the things that he used to think were valuable in his life, he wrote:
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. . . For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. (Phil 3:7-9)
What are you tempted to think is more attractive, pleasurable, and valuable than Christ? In the first column list the attributes and characteristics of God that make Him amazing, awesome, beautiful, and attractive to you. Review the passages in chapter 2.8 for some ideas.
In the second column, list up to 10 things or people that seem amazing, awesome, beautiful, and attractive to you and that tempt you to be devoted to them or sin with them. And list their characteristics. Then compare them to Christ and see what they look like next to Him.
