In order of their mention in FOUNDATIONS
FORGIVENESS, Study #1 in the Christian Essentials explains how to become a Christian and how to know you are a Christian. Available online at www.newlifecr.com/ChristianEssentials/Forgiveness. Or in book form in the New Life Resource Center in the front foyer of the church.
God’s Passion for His Glory, John Piper, (Crossway, 1998). Further study on the theology of God’s glory.
Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist, John Piper (Multnomah, 2003). A classic and popular theological and practical study on the place of happiness in the Christian life.
The Dangerous Duty of Delight, John Piper (Multnomah, 2001). A small pocket-sized book and shorter and simpler version of the essence of Desiring God.
Biblical Faith, Pastor Kurt Jurgensmeier. An in-depth study of the complex topic of faith in Scripture. Available online at:
http://trainingtimothys.org/books/book-6-biblical-believing/.
More Than Meets the Eye, Richard Swenson (NavPress, 2000). An excellent and easy to read description of the glory of God in Creation. Especially good for high school age kids interested in science.
Knowing God, J.I. Packer (Intervarsity, 1993). A classic, readable, practical and very popular book from a great theologian on the character and ways of God.
Pleasures Evermore, Sam Storms (NavPress, 2000). An excellent and practical study on the topic of chapter 2.8 “God’s Glory Purifies Us.”
The 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman (Northfield, 2015). This is a good explanation of an important topic for healthy relationships written by the guy who essentially invented the concept. A weakness of the book is that it is written for a secular audience. Therefore, it only speaks of love as requiring discipline, a hard decision, and hard work, rather than an automatic and joyous power of the Holy Spirit controlling you.
