• The OT prophecies concerning the destruction of Babylon have never been completely fulfilled. Therefore, because America uniquely matches 12 biblical attributes of Endtime Babylon, these prophecies seem to be promises from God to destroy America.
• One of the reasons that God mercilessly pounds away about what He is going to do to Endtime Babylon (America) is this: He is trying to persuade His people that live there to obey this repeated command: “Come out, my people, flee from [Endtime] Babylon [America]” (Jer 51:45; cf. Rev 18:4).

A) America’s punishment will be greater because of its greater blessing & idolatry Deut 6, 8

The English poet Lord Byron famously wrote:

Civilization goes like this: First freedom, and then glory, and then wealth, and then vice, and then corruption, and then barbarism, and then collapse.

As of this writing, America is rather fully corrupt and becoming barbaric. That’s when God will make it “collapse.” The course of nations described by Byron was experienced by Israel. Surely, the instructions, promises, and warnings of God to the nation of Israel apply to America much, much more than many are willing to believe. God told the only other nation ever founded on His laws:

“Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you… When the LORD your God brings you into the land … a land with large, flourishing cities … houses filled with all kinds of good things … when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the LORD…

“Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the LORD your God , Who is among you, is a jealous God and His anger will burn against you, and He will destroy you from the face of the land…

You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…

If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. Like the nations the LORD destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the LORD your God.” (Deut 6:3, 10-12, 14-15; 8:17-20 NIV)

Israel was initially greatly blessed in the Promised Land. But eventually fell into gross idolatry, and God destroyed their nation, just as He promised.

One shudders to realize how accurately this describes modern America. For the first 200 years of its existence, America was by far the most divinely blessed nation in the world. If you travel to continents or countries like Africa, Asia, South America, India, or China you realize this even more.

Many of these civilizations have existed for about 5,000 years, compared to about 250 years for America. And yet, these countries are so poor and backward compared to America. For example, over 80% of the buildings in India would be condemned and torn down in America. Most people there live on the equivalent of a few dollars a day. As noted earlier in this book, it is almost true that 99% of Americans are among the wealthiest 1% of the world’s population (cf. ch. 5, sec. C.1). If these civilizations have existed for 5,000 years, why are they so less advanced and prosperous than one that has existed for 250 years?

Because God blessed one greatly and not the others. That is the only reasonable explanation. The difference between America and most of the rest of the world is supernatural. But most Americans have no idea how much God has blessed them and so they take it for granted. More than that, like the Israelites, they no longer recognize God as the source of their blessings. God warned His people, “If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed” (Deut 8:19). That is a warning for the new Israel of idolatrous America.

Of course, Israel did worship false gods and idols. And God kept His promise to destroy them for their idolatry. We judge the Israelites and ancient people for making idols out of wood, stone, and precious metals and actually bowing down and praying to them. Such practices seem so foolish and primitive. But what is at the heart of the sin of idolatry? It is loving, trusting, depending on, and worshipping anything or anyone more than the true God. It is seeking to find our security, significance, and happiness apart from God. These peoples made sacrifices to these idols because they thought they had the power to protect and bless them.

So how prevalent is idolatry in America? Its worship of Money has already been demonstrated (cf. EB ch. 5). In Israel’s experience, sexual immorality was also a great sin of idolatry. A common false god worshipped in ancient pagan nations and Israel was Asherah (Exod 34:13; Deut 7:5; 12:3; 16:21, about 40 refs. in all). She was the love-goddess. Which is why ancient idols crafted for her worship displayed human genitals and pornographic images (cf. Isa 57:8-9). At her shrines, male and female prostitutes were dedicated to performing sexual acts with those wanting to worship Asherah. Again, we can view such things with disgust. But the idolatrous worship of Asherah is thriving in America through pornography. Do you think God sees a difference between worshipping a pornographic statue and viewing pornographic images of Ashtoreth (Judges 2:13 NLT) on a screen?

It was noted earlier in this book that America is uniquely committed to the promotion of pornography in the world (cf. ch. 6, sec. D). Unlike America, “all Muslim countries and all southeast Asia countries, including China, have made even viewing pornography illegal.” How can these pagan countries be more strict against pornography than the supposedly Christian nation of America?

In America: “Up to 65% of young adult men and 18% of young women report watching pornography at least once a week, though this amount could be much higher.” ^[1] Every single day in America:

• There are 68 million Internet searches related to pornography.
• 116,000 of those searches are related to child pornography.
• 35% of all internet downloads are related to pornography.
• 2.5 billion emails containing porn are sent or received.
• About 200,000 Americans are classified as “porn addicts.”
• 40 million American people regularly visit porn sites. ^[2]

The greatest Christian nation that has ever existed is committing the same idolatrous sins God warned Israel about above. And He promised to destroy them for it and kept His promise. God will do the same for America.

For decades, America was the foremost ambassador of Christianity to the entire world. We represented God like no other nation in human history. And that is why we have so much more prosperity than the rest of the world. But now, America is making a mockery of Christianity. It has spiritually become the great Prostitute (Rev 17:1). And that will have consequences, because God will not be mocked (Gal 6:7). He will not let America mock Him forever, or make Him a mockery forever. The punishment of God is coming to America.

What is predicted of Endtime Babylon is already happening in America:

Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit … her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes (18:2, 5 NIV).

The Greek word for fallen (epesen) can mean either “to fall in a moral sense” or to “fall, be destroyed.” ^[3] It would seem both are intended here because they are ultimately related. The moral fall of America will lead to its destruction as a nation.

Think for a moment how America has morally Fallen! We know that it has become a haunt for every impure spirit because every kind of sin on the Earth is practiced there. Some of those sins (like the practice of abortion and homosexuality and the production and consumption of pornography) are especially prevalent. The greatest and most powerful Christian nation in the history of the world has become the foremost center and promoter of idolatrous worldliness, murdering babies, and gross sexual immorality. No nation has experienced a greater “fall from grace” than America. And because of that, it will be Fallen! and destroyed.

Listen again to what God did with His chosen nation of Israel when it was morally Fallen!

See how Jerusalem, once so faithful, has become a prostitute. Once the home of justice and righteousness, she is now filled with murderers. Your leaders are rebels, the companions of thieves. All of them love bribes and demand payoffs, but they refuse to defend the cause of orphans or fight for the rights of widows.

Therefore, the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the Mighty One of Israel, says, “I will take revenge on my enemies and pay back my foes! I will raise my fist against you. I will melt you down and skim off your slag. (Isa 1:21, 23-25 NLT)

God will do the same to America. This is why He will proclaim over Endtime Babylon (America): “The sword of destruction will strike the Babylonians,” says the LORD… “And why? Because the whole land is filled with idols, and the people are madly in love with them” (50:35, 38 NLT). That describes America, and it is another reason to believe it will be punished by God as He promised for Endtime Babylon.

Of course, those living in America, including Christians, will have a very difficult time believing God would punish America so severely. In fact, many Christian leaders will assure Americans that God will have mercy on their nation. Contrary to such false prophets, a biblical understanding of divine punishment reveals that America is ripe for God’s judgment. Scripture says of God: He builds up nations, and he destroys them. He expands nations, and he abandons them (Job 12:23 NLT). Why would we think America would be any different? Especially if it becomes so sinful. Accordingly, Ron Rhodes has written:

Many great nations have risen and fallen throughout human history. In each case, the nation had no expectation of its impending demise. Indeed, those who lived in these nations probably believed that their nation could never fall. But the harsh reality of documented history is that great nations do fall— and they fall hard…

The citizens of these empires probably thought their nations would last forever, but each empire suffered a gross moral decline, and God rendered appropriate judgment.

Here is a question to ponder: If what we are witnessing in America today (pornography, extramarital sex, widespread homosexuality, abortions, drinking, drugs, divorce, the disintegration of the family, and the like), was also taking place in ancient Babylon, would you think that Babylon was ripe for judgment? I think so!

The problem today is that many in our country have become desensitized to moral issues because immorality is so rampant. That is a dangerous state to be in, for God’s patience will not last forever. ^[4]

Likewise, Likewise, Allen Bonck has written:

The initial reaction of most Americans to the possibility that America may be the Daughter of Babylon, is that of indignation. How dare we even suggest that God might judge America. God has blessed America-not judged it. America has prospered beyond any other nation. God has also used America to spread the gospel. Surely this shows that God supports America.

Unfortunately, this rationale does not hold up when seen in the light of scripture. God ordained and loved the nation of Israel, yet when the Children of Israel turned from God, they were judged and scattered among the nations. Surely if that can happen to Israel, “the apple of God’s eye” (Zech 2:6-8), then God will also judge America’s sin. In fact he must judge America. Can God overlook the blood of millions of abortions, adultery, fornication and a pervasive breakdown of ethics and morals?” ^[5]

B) America’s punishment will be greater because of its greater rejection of divine revelation Matt 10:14-15

The first point was that America’s punishment will be greater because of its greater blessing & idolatry. The second point is that America’s punishment will be greater because of its greater rejection of divine revelation.

America has not only been blessed by God in material and financial ways, but also spiritually. The abundance of Christian churches, Bibles, literature, and teaching in the country far exceeds anywhere else in the world. Yet, the nation has still abandoned God. The population of America is estimated to be 332 million. It is also estimated that there are 350,000 churches in America. ^[6] That is 1 church for about every 1,000 people in America. But is it a Christian nation? Of course not. That statistic is probably true of your community. Yet, would you call your community a “Christian” community? Probably not.

There is a scary biblical principle of divine punishment that was illustrated in the history of Israel. Speaking in the context of the final judgment, Jesus said:

“A servant who knows what the master wants, but isn’t prepared and doesn’t carry out those instructions, will be severely punished. But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.” (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

America and Israel have received the most divine revelation and blessing of any nations in the history of humanity. They are among those servants who abundantly knows what God wants. Therefore, like Israel, and because Americans ignore all of that divine revelation, they will be severely punished. They are among those people that have been given much. Therefore, much more gratefulness and service to God will be required. But America, like ancient Israel, has abandoned God.

The above answers a question that some might have. Remember Abraham’s efforts to persuade the Lord not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah (cf. Gen 18:20-33). Eventually, the Lord agreed that “For the sake of ten [righteous people, v. 24], I will not destroy it” (Gen 18:32 NIV). Can we expect a similar patience from God toward America? Will He wait until there are less than ten righteous people before He destroys it? Probably not.

Jesus illustrated the above biblical principle of divine punishment when He said to His disciples:

“If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day.” (Matt 10:14-15 NLT)

Why did Jesus warn that any household or town that refused to listen to the disciples’ message would be given less grace and punished more severely than the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah? Because having a disciple of Jesus give you a message was a great blessing of divine revelation. And the greater the divine revelation, the greater the divine punishment if that revelation and blessing is ignored.

This divine principle of punishment was an important message of Christ’s. He explained it in Luke 12 quoted above. He illustrated it in Matthew 10 quoted above. And then He illustrated it again with the towns He lived in and ministered in for most of His ministry when He said:

“What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse. I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.

And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.” (Matt 11:21-24 NLT)

The reason that God’s punishment of the people who lived in Korazin and Bethsaida and Capernaum will be greater than the punishment of wicked Tyre and Sidon and wicked Sodom is because Jesus personally lived and ministered in the former towns and among their people. Again, the amount of divine revelation a place and people receive, determines the amount of divine grace or punishment God will exercise if they ignore it.

This is the same reason God’s punishment of America is going to be greater than wicked Sodom. It is the same reason God is going to give less mercy and grace to America than He offered to give wicked Sodom. Think again about how much divine revelation and spiritual opportunity America has been given compared to wicked Sodom. America has 350,000 churches. How many did wicked Sodom have? That is why America’s guilt is far greater than wicked Sodom and it will be punished accordingly.

C) God’s merciful destruction of Endtime Babylon (America)

As noted, there are biblical reasons to believe God will treat Endtime Babylon (America) with less mercy than even Sodom and Gomorrah. But in fact, its destruction may actually be an act of mercy. Many Christians may struggle with the idea that God would punish America in the horrible way nations in the OT were punished, or as Revelation 17:16-17 describes. It seems cruel. But in fact, destroying America may be a great act of mercy by God to relieve its people of all the pain they are experiencing because of their slavery to sin.

For example, it is reasonable to believe that the Apostle Paul was especially predicting the youth in 21st century America when he wrote:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Tim 3:1-4 NIV)

The fact that this is an alarming and accurate description of especially America’s young people is more biblical evidence that the Endtimes are coming for America. Again, about 40% of Americans aged 18-24 claim to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ). Such a statistic represents a lot of emotional, psychological, and relational pain. So, why would God destroy the youth in America? To put them out of their misery.

America’s youth hate God and His laws, and this has made them the most miserable generation in the history of America, and maybe the world. Visit the local high school or middle school and you will see a lot of depressed, lonely, angry, selfish, and unhappy young people. They feel hopeless and purposeless and all they do is sin and try to find happiness in more sin to the destruction of their own lives. Accordingly, the CDC reported in 2021 that:

42% of students felt persistently sad or hopeless… 22% of students seriously considered attempting suicide. ^[7]

Likewise:

Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 24 in the U.S. This percentage is higher among lesbian, gay, or bisexual teens (46.8%). ^[8]

All of which is why so many of America’s youth are taking medications for anxiety, anger, hyper-activity, and depression.

Such statistics reveal a great deal of emotional pain in the lives of America’s youth. And the primary cause of that pain is the constant and hurtful sin of their parents and peers against them, and their own sin. And there is no hope for their lives to get better unless they repent and turn to God. But America’s young people are doing that in alarmingly decreasing numbers.

It is beyond the scope of this chapter to sufficiently explain why God violently wiped out entire civilizations in the OT. But one reason was His mercy. To save them from the increasing pain and misery their slavery to sin would bring them and others. This is why it may be more merciful than we imagine for God to end the lives of America’s youth before they become adults. To save them from their sinful, miserable, and hopeless lives resulting from their rejection of God.

D) God’s promises to destroy Endtime Babylon (America)

In previous chapters (5-7) at least 12 biblical attributes of Endtime Babylon were demonstrated. Every single one of them is uniquely true of modern America. There are no biblical, historical, or reasonable arguments to refute that. Therefore, there should be no doubt that Revelation 17-18 is predicting the modern attributes of America and its destruction.

It was also explained that the OT prophecies regarding Babylon’s destruction were never fulfilled in ancient Babylon (cf. ch. 2 sec. B). As God says: “Everything the LORD has planned against [Endtime] Babylon [America] stands unchanged” (Jer 51:29 NIV). This is why the Babylon spoken against in the OT is essentially the same Endtime Babylon spoken against in the last book of the Bible (cf. Rev 14:8; 16:19; 17:5; 18:2, 10, 21). Likewise, the destruction of Endtime Babylon (America) predicted in the OT and never completely fulfilled, is predicted again in Revelation because those OT prophecies will be fulfilled in Endtime Babylon (America). Therefore, the OT predictions of Endtime Babylon’s (America’s) destruction are repeated in Revelation where we read:

The ten horns that you saw, and the beast will hate the Prostitute, and these will permanently remove all people from her and strip her naked and they will devour her body and will burn her down with fire. (Rev 17:16)

As you will see below, this is exactly how the OT describes Endtime Babylon’s destruction. And if America uniquely matches 12 biblical attributes of Endtime Babylon, then these prophecies seem to be promises from God to destroy America.

As already discussed in the previous chapter (12), it is true that Russian and Chinese leaders have a burning hatred for America and unitedly possess the greatest nuclear warfare force in the world. But it would seem the Bible predicts that America will have a much, much more powerful and determined enemy than Russia and China. God Almighty Himself. It would seem He is the One that has repeatedly promised in Scripture to destroy America when it became an idolatrous nation.

Therefore, the following prophecies describe a much greater threat to America than anything Russia or China will do or decide. As you read them, remember, this is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe personally speaking all of these words about all the ways He is going to punish Endtime Babylon (America).

As you read the following promises from God you will notice that He will repeat the same thing over and over and over again. Frankly, the anger and monotonous repetition seem beneath Him. It is embarrassing how God goes on and on and on about what He is going to do to Endtime Babylon (America). Before you are done reading God’s promises about this, you are going to think, “enough already!” But God would say, “No it’s not.

The punishment of Endtime Babylon (America), and the worldly idolatry it stands for and promotes, offends My glory and I will not tolerate that.” What did God say to the only other nation He has given as much blessing and revelation to? “If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed” (Deut 8:19).

The Prophets saw how God was going to punish Endtime Babylon (America) in horrific visions, like a divinely inspired video of the future. And it terrified these men of God. Before reading what God has prophesied against Endtime Babylon (America), let us read how Isaiah’s vision of this affected him personally:

This message came to me concerning [Endtime] Babylon [America]… Disaster is roaring down on you … I see a terrifying vision… My stomach aches and burns with pain. Sharp pangs of anguish are upon me, like those of a woman in labor. I grow faint when I hear what God is planning; I am too afraid to look. (21:1-4 NLT)

This is what else God seems to be saying to America through the Prophet Isaiah:

“[Endtime] Babylon [America], the most glorious of kingdoms … will be devastated like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them. [Endtime] Babylon [America] will never be inhabited again. It will remain empty for generation after generation… [Endtime] Babylon’s [America’s] days are numbered; its time of destruction will soon arrive.” (Isa 13:19-20, 22 NIV; cf. Rev 18:21-23)…

“Come down, virgin daughter of [Endtime] Babylon [America], and sit in the dust. For your days of sitting on a throne have ended… You will be naked and burdened with shame. I will take vengeance against you without pity.”

“O beautiful [Endtime] Babylon [America], sit now in darkness and silence. Never again will you be known as the queen of kingdoms… You said, ‘I will reign forever as queen of the world!’ You did not reflect on your actions or think about their consequences.” (cf. Rev 18:7)

“Listen to this, you pleasure-loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children.’ Well, both these things will come upon you in a moment: widowhood and the loss of your children…” (cf. Rev 18:7-8)

“You felt secure in your wickedness. ‘No one sees me,’ you said. But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray, and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’ So disaster will overtake you, and you won’t be able to charm it away. Calamity will fall upon you, and you won’t be able to buy your way out. A catastrophe will strike you suddenly, one for which you are not prepared” (Isa 47:1,3, 5, 7-11 NIV).

This is what God seems to be saying to America through the Prophet Jeremiah about its destruction with nuclear weapons:

“Tell the whole world, and keep nothing back. Raise a signal flag to tell everyone that [Endtime] Babylon [America] will fall! Her images and idols will be shattered… For a nation will attack her from the north and bring such destruction that no one will live there again. Everything will be gone; both people and animals will flee…”

“I am raising up an army of great nations from the north. They will join forces to attack [Endtime] Babylon [America], and she will be captured. The enemies’ arrows will go straight to the mark; they will not miss!…”

“You will become the least of nations—a wilderness, a dry and desolate land. Because of the LORD’s anger, [Endtime] Babylon [America] will become a deserted wasteland. All who pass by will be horrified and will gasp at the destruction they see there…” (cf. Rev 18:8-19)

“Take up your positions around [Endtime] Babylon [America], all you who draw the bow. Shoot at her! Spare no arrows, for she has sinned against the LORD…”

“Go up … against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod [Babylon ^[9]]. Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,” says the LORD. “Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction. [Endtime] Babylon [America], the mightiest hammer in all the earth, lies broken and shattered. [Endtime] Babylon [America] is desolate among the nations!”

“Listen, [Endtime] Babylon [America], for I have set a trap for you. You are caught, for you have fought against the LORD. The LORD has opened his armory and brought out weapons to vent his fury. The terror that falls upon the [Endtime] Babylonians [Americans] will be the work of the Sovereign LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” (cf. Rev 17:17).

“Yes, come against her from distant lands… Crush her walls and houses into heaps of rubble. Destroy her completely, and leave nothing! Destroy even her young bulls—it will be terrible for them, too! Slaughter them all! For [Endtime] Babylon’s [America’s] day of reckoning has come…” (cf. Rev 17:16)

“Her young men will fall in the streets and die. Her soldiers will all be killed,” says the LORD. “See, I am your enemy, you arrogant people,” says the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “Your day of reckoning has arrived—the day when I will punish you. O land of arrogance, you will stumble and fall, and no one will raise you up. For I will light a fire in the cities of [Endtime] Babylon [America] that will burn up everything around them.”

“The sword of destruction will strike the [Endtime] Babylonians [Americans],” says the LORD. “It will strike the people of [Endtime] Babylon [America]—her officials and wise men, too… The sword will strike her mightiest warriors, and panic will seize them…”

“And why? Because the whole land is filled with idols, and the people are madly in love with them…”

“Look! A great army is coming from the north. A great nation and many kings are rising against you from far-off lands… They are cruel and show no mercy…” (cf. Rev 17:16)

“Listen to the LORD’s plans against [Endtime] Babylon [America] and the land of the [Endtime] Babylonians [Americans]. Even the little children will be dragged off like sheep, and their homes will be destroyed. The earth will shake with the shout, “[Endtime] Babylon [America] has been taken!” and its cry of despair will be heard around the world.

This is what the LORD says: “I will stir up a destroyer against [Endtime] Babylon [America] and the people of [Endtime] Babylonia [America]. Flee from [Endtime] Babylon [America]! Save yourselves! Don’t get trapped in her punishment! It is the LORD’s time for vengeance; he will repay her in full…” (cf. Rev 18:4-5)

“We would have helped her if we could, but nothing can save her now. Let her go; abandon her… For her punishment reaches to the heavens; it is so great it cannot be measured…”

“Raise the battle flag against [Endtime] Babylon [America]!… Prepare an ambush, for the LORD will fulfill all his plans against [Endtime] Babylon [America]. You are a … great center of commerce, but your end has come. The thread of your life is cut.”

The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has taken this vow and has sworn to it by his own name: “Your … enemies … will shout in triumph over you…”

“I will repay [Endtime] Babylon [America] and the people of [Endtime] Babylonia [America] for all the wrong they have done …” says the LORD… “I will raise my fist against you, to knock you down from the heights. When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of burnt rubble.

You will be desolate forever. Even your stones will never again be used for building. You will be completely wiped out,” says the LORD.

The earth trembles and writhes in pain, for everything the LORD has planned against [Endtime] Babylon [America] stands unchanged. [Endtime] Babylon [America] will be left desolate without a single inhabitant… [Endtime] Babylon [America] will become a heap of ruins… She will be an object of horror and contempt, a place where no one lives…

While they lie inflamed with all their wine, I will prepare a different kind of feast for them. I will make them drink until they fall asleep, and they will never wake up again,” says the LORD.

“How [Endtime] Babylon [America] is fallen—great [Endtime] Babylon [America], praised throughout the earth! Now she has become an object of horror among the nations… Her cities now lie in ruins; she is a dry wasteland where no one lives or even passes by. (Jer 50:2-3, 9, 12-14, 21-27, 29-32, 35-38, 41-42, 45, 47; 51:1, 6, 9, 12-14, 24-26, 29, 37, 39-43 NLT).

It bears repeating. It may not be Russia or China or even their nuclear weapons that are the greatest threat to living in the United States of America. Do not be afraid of Vladimir Putin. Be afraid of God. God’s overwhelming ANGER about America’s spiritual prostitution, idolatry, worship of money, and its promotion and practice of homosexuality, pornography, and abortion, is America’s greatest threat. God’s ANGER about these things burns hotter and brighter than any nuclear warhead. You just read over 3 pages of GOD’S WORD describing how hot His anger burns against Endtime Babylon (America) and His repeated promises to destroy it. He gave Jeremiah two chapters of the Bible describing these very things. And before He did, He told Jeremiah this:

The LORD asked me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I answered, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the LORD said, “You have observed correctly. This means I am watching to make sure my threats are carried out” [against Endtime Babylon] (Jer 1:11-12 NET). ^[10]

God may be manipulating events and people even now to make sure His promises to punish Endtime Babylon (America) are kept.

The above seem to be biblical descriptions of the destruction of America. They are not guesses by human doomsdayers. They are not merely human predictions of nuclear war or climate change. They are not idle threats from someone who does not have the power to carry them out. No, these are promises from God, just as certain as any others in Scripture. The LORD always keeps his promises (Ps 145:13 NIV), including the ones to destroy idolatrous nations.

If you doubt He is going to do to Endtime Babylon (America) what He promised above, then remember: God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Num 23:19 NIV). Of course not.

One of the reasons that God mercilessly pounds away about what He is going to do to Endtime Babylon is this: He is trying to persuade His people that live there to obey this repeated command:

“Come out, my people, flee from [Endtime] Babylon [America]. Save yourselves! Run from the LORD’s fierce anger… For the time is surely coming when I will punish this great city and all her idols. Her whole land will be disgraced, and her dead will lie in the streets… Get out … Do not stand and watch—flee while you can! (Jer 51:45, 47, 50 NIV; cf. Rev 18:4).

God repeated this very same command for Endtime Babylon (America) in Revelation because it applies to His people living there in the Endtimes:

Then I heard another voice from Heaven say: “Move out from Babylon the Great My people; so that you will not be connected to her sins and so that you will not experience her being struck hard with a sudden and severe disaster. This is because her sins are piled up to Heaven and God has focused His attention on her wrongs” (Rev 18:4-5)

Will we humbly listen to our Father’s warning of the destruction of Endtime Babylon in Revelation 17:16-17? Will we courageously obey His resulting command in Revelation 18:4 when the time comes? This Last Great Commandment of God is the subject of chapters 15-16.

But first, we must answer perhaps the most common objection to believing God would destroy America in such a horrible way. Many Christians in America would claim there are too many of His people living there for the above prophecies to be referring to its destruction. This false belief will be addressed in the next chapter.
